Mediterraneo
VIS is a member of the New Chance Mediterranean Network (MedNC) and of the Erasmus+ strategic partnership project "MedNC: a network for the successful integration of young NEETs”.
According to the ILO, 71 million young people around the world, aged between 15 and 24 years, looked for but did not find work in 2017. This is particularly true in the Mediterranean Basin with a growing percentage of young people joining the Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) category. This concerns 1 young person out of 3 in Tunisia, 1 young person out of 4 in Italy and 1 young person out of 6 in France.
In order to respond to these challenges, the MedNC network gathers Euro-Mediterranean socio-professional insertion structures to strengthen the qualitative and quantitative impact of their action and inform the state of these initiatives. Today, it represents more than 26,000 young people and 100 partner centers in 9 countries (Algeria, Egypt, Spain, France, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia, Italy). The network is supported by the Union for the Mediterranean, the French Development Agency, the Drosos Foundation, and the European Union via the Erasmus + program. The Erasmus+ strategic partnership project "MedNC: a network for the successful integration of young NEETs” supports the network’s missions and objectives. It aims at sharing and promoting the successful experiences in the region through a process of training and exchanges of good practices, the creation and diffusion of a guide of good practices and the presentation of common information related to early school leavers who benefited from the project.
The main objectives are:
- to reinforce the capacity building of the members and encourage their exchanges
- to identify and promote innovative and replicable initiatives and methods in the region
- to improve the quality, reliability and transmission of information and communication between the members of the network
The project span from September 2018 to February 2020 and gathers the Italian VIS and CNOS FAP associations, the Portuguese second chance school AE2O, the Spanish network of second chance schools E2O and the French network of second chance schools E2C, as well as the IECD, the partnership’s coordinator.
