WHO WE ARE

Working Context

WeWorld has been working in Benin since 2008 (it was registered in January 2011) and is headquartered in Cotonou. The organisation works with several local partners and is currently developing its projects in the departments of Zou, Collines, Ouémé and Plateau supporting 14 municipalities, 48 villages and 25 schools. WeWorld's intervention mainly aims to support children's rights to quality education, basic health, healthy food and protection; to promote rural families' (especially women's) access to the economic resources necessary for a dignified life; and to promote sexual and reproductive rights, especially of young people and women. WeWorld is committed to the prevention of irregular migration, the fight against migrant smuggling, human trafficking and the protection of women and young people in an irregular situation in West Africa, including the Sahel sub-region.

 

Purpose of the Role

Under the supervision of the Country Representative, the Project Manager Junior is responsible for the management and monitoring of the “OUESTAF Migration project”, an EU-funded program aimed at preventing irregular migration, protecting vulnerable migrants and combating human trafficking. He/she will ensure effective implementation, quality and reporting. He/she will provide programmatic support to WeWorld Benin mission and contribute to WeWorld’s visibility and development in Benin.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

Implementing and monitoring the Migration project

· Coordinate and supervise project activities, in collaboration with local teams and regional partners

· Monitor and evaluate the progress of activities in accordance with the timetable and implementation plan drawn up by the program

· Implement awareness-raising and information strategies on migration, in collaboration with local stakeholders and civil society

· Ensure capacity-building for stakeholders on migration issues, by organizing training and multi-actor exchanges

· Contributing to advocacy actions aimed at improving the legislative and policy framework on migration

· Manage institutional relations with project partners (EU, ICMPD, local CSOs, government authorities)

· Coordinate all research aspects of the project

· Ensure project reporting

Strategic and programmatic development and fundraising

· In collaboration with the MEAL coordinator, set up harmonized monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the impact of projects

· Coordinate the collection and analysis of data, ensure its reliability and propose strategic adjustments if necessary

· Encouraging the capitalization and sharing of experience between projects to strengthen the impact of WeWorld’s work

· Monitor funding opportunities and calls for projects relevant to WeWorld in Benin

· Contribute to the development of new project proposals, in line with the needs identified

· Strengthen relations with donors and partners to ensure greater synergy and diversification of funding

· Participating in the process of submitting and validating projects with institutions and funding agencies

Representation and advocacy

· Representing WeWorld in thematic working groups and clusters relating to education, migration and protection

· Participate in humanitarian and development coordination meetings with local authorities and partners

· Strengthening WeWorld’s position in Benin and the region through advocacy and networking

· Develop strategic partnerships to maximize the impact of interventions and ensure their sustainability

Job Specifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTES

Qualifications and Knowledge

· An advanced university degree or equivalent in the field of Social or Political Science, Development Studies, International relations, Project Management, Human rights, Migration or related field

· Proficiency in IT tools and project management software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, monitoring and evaluation tools)

· Knowledge of PowerBi is an asset

· Excellent writing and analytical skills to produce high-quality reports

· Fluent French both written and verbal

· Working knowledge of English neccessary

 

Professional experience

· At least 1 years’ experience in managing and coordinating multi-sectoral projects (education, protection, migration, development)

· Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting on projects funded by international donors

· Experience in team management, stakeholder coordination and capacity building

 

Skills and Abilities

· Strong project management and multi-stakeholder coordination skills

· Ability to work under pressure, manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

· Rigor, autonomy and initiative in implementing activities

· Strong communication and negotiation skills, particularly with institutional partners

· Cultural, gender, religion, and age sensitivity and adaptability

· Strong commitment to the Mission of WeWorld, genuine interest in international cooperation development topics

 

Desirable requirements

· Previous work experience in the area

 

WHAT WE OFFER

Type of contract: a first 6 (six) month collaboration contract subject to verification of the achievement of specific objectives (these objectives will be agreed together with the Line Manager upon arrival on assignment); a second collaboration contract of 6 (six) months renewable, following the positive evaluation of the first months of contract

Economic conditions: to be defined according to WeWorld Expatriates Compensation Policy: Base Salary (seniority/role held) + Contributions (role complex, housing and hardship based on place of work)

Annual leave: 2,5 days/month (working days)

Flight ticket: one return flight

Health insurance: covered
