Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all.Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 9 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine.CUAMM’s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. JOB TITLE: Project Manager
JOB LOCATION: Abidjan, Ivory Coast

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Project Manager will be responsible for two projects aimed at ensuring access to quality maternal and child health services by supporting a network of health facilities (with training, rehabilitation, equipment supply, clinical support) and carrying out community-based health promotion and education activities.

 

 

KEY DUTIES

· Ensuring proper project management of the project and its resources (human, financial and material resources)

· Liaising with local health authorities, managers of health facilities involved, partners and other organisations working in the area

· Coordinating the implementation of project

· Ensuring the dissemination of project results

· Preparing periodic reports requested by donors

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

· University Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics or related fields

· Previous experience in managing and coordinating cooperation projects in fragile or low income countries; previous experience in managing health projects will be considered an asset

· Good knowledge of French and Italian

· Dynamism and flexibility

 

TERMS OF CONTRACT

· Type of contract: collaboration contract

· Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience)

· Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work

· Flight ticket: one return flight at the beginning and at the end of the collaboration

· Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs

· Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, work and residence permits

· Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace

· Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker

· Family policy: where the socio-political context and logistics allow it, international staff may be accompanied by their partner or family. In this case, the NGO provides a salary supplement and guarantees flights, health insurance, visas and permits for dependents and accompanying family members.
