THE ORGANIZATION 

Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all. Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 9 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine. CUAMM’s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. Interventions include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions; field research. CUAMM's international and national staff work together on the front line to strengthen local health systems, in resource-limited contexts where the commitment and contribution of the individual can make a real difference. Which is why we always need skilled and motivated people who are ready to join us to collaborate on our projects 'with Africa'. 

 

JOB TITLE: Admin/Finance Officer
JOB LOCATION: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 19/11/2024

DURATION: 12 months

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

Working closely with the Project Manager, the Admin/Finance Officer will oversee the administrative management of a project with a major procurement component, ensuring compliance with administrative and procurement procedures, preparing financial reporting, and supervising the management and maintenance of accounts. 

The project is focused on Hepatitis and supporting Bogodogo University Hospital. 

 

 

KEY DUTIES 

  • Overseeing accounting 

  • Monitoring project expenditures and assisting the Project Manager in budgeting and drafting periodic financial reports 

  • Ensuring compliance with procurement procedures 

  • Overseeing the procurement procedures and ensure that purchases are supported by the correct documentation 

  • Managing cash and bank accounts dedicated to the project 

  • Supervising administrative and logistical national staff 

  • Supporting the Project Manager in preparing quarterly funding requests 

  • Guaranteeing that project activities are properly documented 

  • Supporting the Project Manager in the administrative management of national staff and their contracts 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Degree in Accounting, University Degree in Economics or equivalent title 

  • Good knowledge of French 

  • Good knowledge of Italian 

  • Mastery in using accounting applications 

  • Good knowledge and experience in using PRAG procedures 

  • Proven professional experience in admin/finance management of international cooperation projects in fragile countries and/or low-resources settings 

 

TERMS OF CONTRACT 

  • Type of contract: collaboration contract 

  • Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience) 

  • Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months 

  • Flight ticket: one return flight at the beginning and at the end of the collaboration 

  • Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs 

  • Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, work and residence permits 

  • Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace 

  • Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker 

  • Family policy: where the socio-political context and logistics allow it, international staff may be accompanied by their partner or family. In this case, the NGO provides a salary supplement and guarantees flights, health insurance, visas and permits for dependents and accompanying family members.
